Joint Birthday Party

Its so funny that in our tight group of friends everyones birthdays either fall in the early part of the year (Jan, Feb, March) or late summer (Aug, Sept). Since we all go to each others parities we thought, "Why don't we just do a joint party?" So we put it in action, joint party twice a year! The first party was for the late summer birthdays, this being Tapanga, Levi, Landon, Leila and Eric and Julia.

We divided the tasks and Laura decided she would make cakes for all the kids! What a huge task to undertake, but she did a great job! Tapanga loves princesses so she got one, Julia loves cats, Eric likes Mario and then Laura made Cars for Levi and Landon and a castle for Leila...such talent! Each kid got a cake that suited them and they loved them! One of the great things about having a summer birthday is you can have an outside party with water! So we all got together and rented a water slide for all the kids to enjoy, along with it we also got a bounce house, but because we went in to this together it was a lot cheaper than it would have been!
What a great looking birthday group! We had a bunch of fun and Tapanga loved her birthday celebration with friends!

Soccer 2010

1st game of our 2010 soccer games! The boys are super excited about playing soccer this year, they have enough energy for it!Tanner is all smiles, running up and down the field and falling down!

So, even though we don't keep score...our team didn't do all that great in scoring. Tanner made the first goal during the 3rd period and almost had another! We are looking forward to a fun season this fall!

Tapangs 3 year old check up

My itty bitty little girl is 3 and its time for her check up...only a month after her birthday!

Tapanga measured 35 1/4" and weighed 25 lbs! Putting her in the 13th percentile for height and 2nd percentile for weight! She is itty bitty!

Tapanga such a girl with attitude...she refused to talk to Dr. Roads. She just kept given him this look with evil eyes like she knew what was coming!

Unfortunately, we had to get two shots before leaving the office, but Tapanga really surprised me and didn't even cry. She didn't like them and was upset, but she held it together...for two days she milked it with "my band aids hurt...my leg hurts...my shots hurt".

Its so hard to believe Tapanga is three, maybe its because she is the size of a 2 year old!

Lunch with the boys

One of the things I won't get to do much is visit with the boys at their school for lunch and stuff during the day. So when I scheduled Tapangas 3 year check up, it worked out that I could go eat lunch with them before her 1:50 appointment time.

Thomas asked me if I was going to bring them something or just eat the school lunch with them and so I decided I would surprise them with McDonalds. Tanner wasn't to happy about this, he wanted to buy his lunch! I told him that I could give his McDonalds to his teacher and he thought about it for a minute and then decided he would eat it.

Tyler wanted to know why I didn't get them happy meals! It was pretty funny sitting their with them. Tanner was super talkative telling all about the goings on in his classroom and students in his class.
Tyler was all about following the procedures of the cafeteria. Even raising his hand when he wanted napkins and ketchup! Funny boy.I got the camera out to take some pictures of us and instead of asking someone else to take our pictures each of the boys got a turn and I took the shot of the 3 of us! What a fun experience!

How did we meet?

In the car today, Tyler said "Mommy, how did you and daddy meet?"

Me: "We met at church."

Tyler: "NO, how did you meet?"

Me: "Daddy and mommy met at church, we were both playing on the baseball team."

Tyler: "Was Daddy looking for a long time?"

Me:"???Nooo, I don't think so."

Tyler: "Were you late?"

Me:":) No, I don't think so."

and then he changes the subject, not so sure I answered his question correctly, but...cute conversation anyways!

Our Shower

Thomas has been under the house a few times throughout our first year here. He noticed a wet board in our bathroom area that stayed wet so we investigated. It was under our main shower and it seemed the only way to fix it was to dig up the shower floor. A year in our new house and we have to fix something. Of course we called Jeremy and working with Daniel (the guy who installed the shower) they came up with a game plan.
First, tear out the old floor and then let the floor dry. Daniel thinks that some cracks may have been the cause of the leak.
It seems the bladder was not up high enough and when the water hit the far wall it was seeping under and into the boards.

After the floor was dry lay down a black sludge type material for future protection. At this point Daniel has become very unreliable in this project which was started at the end of July, it is now the end of August, time to call in someone else!
Once the new people get in they line the shower floor with the bladder and other materials.
Finally, its time to lay the tiles! The new guys were very helpful they fixed the shower shelf during this process also!
We have a nice new shower that has been done correctly with no more leaks!

On a side note, Daniel was a guy who did many projects in our home during the building process. We were never very happy with his work and this was only another disappointment. Kelley and Jeremy are also disappointed in his reliability and work ethic and have said they will not use him for future projects. Unfortunately, when you do projects like this you have a fine line to work around you do the best you can with what you have!
