Some funnies from the last few days

Grandpa was in his bathroom when Tyler comes up to the door and knocks, "Grandpa, are you mowing your beard?" Grandpa laughed so hard he almost cut the entire thing off!

The other day, Thomas and I went to get the kids from daycare as we headed to moms house for dinner. We put the kids in the truck buckled them in and drove away, when all of a sudden Tyler says "Nobody buckled Tapanga in!" When Tapanga pipes up, "I'M HANGING ON TIGHT!"

Pumpkain Patch

One of the traditional Kindergarten field trips is to the pumpkin patch. The boys were scheduled to go before Halloween, but storms came through that postponed their field trip. I had taken the day off go with them and when the trip got rescheduled I didn't know if I would be able to make it and I had been looking forward to this trip with them. I was able to take a half day on their rescheduled day though and enjoy their first field trip.

When I got to the farm, the buses had just unloaded and I found Tanners class. I went and got Tyler to join us as we did the different activities. First stop was to pick out our pumpkins. The kids could pick out any pumpkin they wanted and of course the bigger the better!
Tanners class before the hayride, he seems to have a bunch of characters in his room.
The hayride was lots of fun. It was funny to watch the workers chase down the cows, when the tractor went through the gate the cows escaped!
After riding in the hayride we walked around and saw the different animals. Ms. Wiles got a kiss from the camel, which I am sure she loved!
After looking at the animals we walked through the corn maze where the kids could pick an ear of corn.
For lunch, the classes could choose to eat by the pond or up at the picnic pavilion. Tanners class chose to eat by the pond and Tyler's class ate at the picnic tables. Tyler wanted to rejoin his class, come to find out he was line leader so I let him and Tanner and I enjoyed lunch by the pond.
When lunch was over it was time to board the buses. Tyler's class was taking their pumpkins back to school with them where they were going to do some math activities measuring and sizing them up.

Even though it was a rescheduled day, we still had a bunch of fun. I got to spend time with both my boys during a school activity and since I work I won't always be able to do this. When I can though I will enjoy it each time!

1st nine weeks Awards Ceremony

The boys school does an award ceremony each nine weeks. Grade levels are awarded at different times throughout the day. I was very surprised and excited when I got the note that Tanner would be awarded during the first ceremony!

I think Tanner was happy I was there!
First awards are for perfect attendance. Tanner and Tyler have both been present everyday up to this point, but Tanner was the only one to be called up for his award. (Mrs. Randolph is new to Liberty and didn't know that this was part of the ceremony, she had already sent Tylers home with him.)
Tanner was super excited to get his award, but to be truthful I was thinking I hope I didn't come just to see him get an attendance award (I had to get special permission to leave school for the ceremony). Liberty also hands out P.R.I.D.E awards where each letter stands for a special characteristic that students could portray. P stands for positive Attitude, R for respect, I for initiative, D for dependability, and E for effort. I was hoping that Tanner might be getting one of these...and he did!
Tanner was awarded the Initiative award for his classroom...which so fits Tanners personality! I was so proud of him, he is doing great!
When the boys got home we got a picture of both of them with their perfect attendance awards (unfortunately neither will get this award again this year, because since this point they both missed days because of being sick)! It is so exciting to celebrate the achievements of your children and it makes me so proud when they do great things! Good job Tanner!

Robot Project

Our first school project has come home! The project was to build a robot using 3D shapes, cylinders, cubes, spheres were all part of the lesson. A building project...gets passed to Thomas. So, Thomas and Tanner worked on the project for a few days, they painted and glued until we had a robot!
Tanner was pretty proud of his robot!
We debated on how to get the robot to school, both Thomas and I had to be to work before the boys school even starts. We thought about asking Diann to take it, but decided we would let Tanner take it on the bus. Unfortunately, this was a bad mistake...some how or another the project had an accident at the bus stop and some of its pieces fell off. Tanner was devastated and was crying when he got to his classroom! Mrs. Geer came to the rescue and used her glue gun to reassemble it and the robot was saved!

Halloween

We had a lot of Halloween activities to participate in this year...many of which were free city activities, but we might as well get as much use of the outfits as possible!

Tapanga wore her princess dress to dance class and she was oh so pretty!IHOP had free scary face pancakes for kids, so we took the kids and had a yummy breakfast dinner! The city hosted a "Fright on Franklin" where local businesses set up booths and handed out candy and treats to the kids. We decided to visit this with the relatives who were in town, they had never been to anything like this before. It was pretty fun, but crowded!
After trick or treating on Franklin street we headed to Chick fil A where they were having their Halloween celebration and any person wearing a costume received a free dessert. All the kids enjoyed their free desserts, Tapanga and Tanner got milkshakes and Tyler enjoyed a brownie.
On actual Halloween night we were invited (or maybe we invited ourselves) to go trick or treating with the Nelsons. Joy and I decided to make some Halloween themed items for a dinner beforehand. I made some eyeballs (donut holes), mummy pizza bread, and witches brew. Joy made fingers and toes (hot dogs) and boo cups (pudding). Yummy food to celebrate Halloween.
After eating dinner, it was time to get dressed and go out trick or treating! We met up with some of the neighbors and walked around part of the neighborhood.
After trick or treating around Joys neighborhood, we decided to make one last stop...Grammie and Grandpas house! TRICK OR TREAT!!!
