On Friday, Joy invited us to come over to her house for her annual block Easter Egg Hunt. I then got the idea that we should BBQ while over there and she agreed! She made some yummy blue cheese burgers and we enjoyed!
After everyone was ready, Joy and I hid the eggs for the kids egg hunt. This was my kids first egg hunt of the season and they were super excited! Tanner is an "eggselint" egg hunter, Tyler gets distracted really easily though!
I also thought it would be fun to have an adult egg hunt...I mean why do the kids have to have all the fun?! So, Joy and I stuffed eggs for the adult hunt, in half of the eggs we put lottery tickets and in the others goodies...Joy was very creative in this. She put floss, and liquor chocolates and Listerine packets, I put chocolate in the remainder of my eggs. Eric and Dani's husband didn't want to participate in the adult egg hunt, so they hid the eggs for us. I found a bunch of the eggs but not the lottery ones, Joy was the lucky one to find those!
After all the hunting, we grabbed our lawn chairs and hung out in the street for awhile, before heading home and putting the kids to bed. Its times like these where I wish we still lived on Rafiki Dr, but when we get home and to our peace and quiet we realize its just a short distance away!
On Saturday, it was my birthday, the church egg hunt and the city egg hunt! For the last couple of years we have been going to the church egg hunt, because they do such a nice one for the kids. While the kids are hunting, they look for a numbered egg and in the end get to pick a prize from the prize table. They also have the Easter bunny come to visit and this year the bunny came in the pink limo!
It had been raining and so the egg hunts were in doors this year. Tapanga was in a different age group from the boys. I invited Joy and the kids to this egg hunt and I think they enjoyed themselves just as much as our kids!
While Thomas was with Tapanga hunting, he spotted the number 6 egg, so Tapanga was able to be the 6th person to pick a prize. She picked out this basket because it had a princess water bottle and was very happy with her prize!
Tanner was the next to get a prize but not until the 20's or so and he had to have the water gun! Tyler was last to get a prize and wasn't happy because he to wanted a water gun, but there wasn't another one when he finally got up there (he was in the 40's). So, he threw a fit even though he got a cool basket with a little water gun! Whats funny about this, the little water gun actually shot better than the big one!
Tapanga loved the bunny that was in her basket also!
After hunting at the church we grabbed a quick lunch before heading home and resting for a bit. The city Easter egg hunt was at 2:30. This was actually suppose to be last weekend, but got postponed because of the weather and because Tapanga won the coloring contest we had to go! She was getting a 15 second head start!
Tapangas egg hunt was first, the mud was really bad and so they had all the eggs in the outfield of the t-ball fields at Heritage park. Their plan was people would like up through the dug outs and once the hunt started would file in to the eggs. Well this was not a good plan! Tapanga and I ran out when we were given the go ahead and she did a great job. I happened to look up and noticed that people hadn't even made it in and the eggs were almost all gone! I eventually told Tapanga to stop and we headed out as people were still coming in, I started handing Tapangas eggs out to the people I knew wouldn't get any. As an extra bonus for Tapanga she also won a chocolate bunny since she won the coloring contest! I so hoped Thomas was near the front of the line with the boys!
Thomas did get in line right away...good job! The boys were at the front of the line. The organizers also learned their lesson and decided to line the kids up along the sidelines before giving the go ahead to begin! But, the lined the kids up along the fence and before we knew they were going to make a second line up in front of the boys! Thomas rushed in to help, the boys had been waiting in line for over half an hour and others were going to be allowed in front of them? NO! It all worked out in the end, Tanner did a great joy again and Tyler got distracted! The eggs ended up being one big mess though...because they were filled in chocolate that was melting in the hot sun! The kids had a great time, but I don't think we will do the city egg hunt again, it is just to crowded to suit my taste!
Sunday, was Easter...Tapanga was crying about being hungry so I made her pancakes, but I wasn't really thinking and accidentally grabbed the chocolate syrup instead of the syrup!
When Tyler came downstairs, he noticed that the Easter bunny had visited. Each child was very happy with their basket, Tanner really enjoyed his Zhu Zhu pet and Scooby movie, Tyler liked his race car and Tapanga loved her princess doll!
After eating breakfast, we got ready for church. We were going with the in laws to Fellowship and since we were all dressed up, I wanted to take few pictures!
After church we went home, where mom was coming over to cook Easter dinner. Mom and Kg, Diann and Mike, and Leigh and John were joining us for dinner. The weather was very nice and after enjoying our lunch/dinner we sat outside where the kids played with their water guns and munched on their Easter basket candies!
