The boys were suppose to have a t-ball game on Saturday, but it had been raining for days. Saturday was no different, more rain and the game got canceled. I had seen a good deal for the Opryland hotel and was wanting to go, but with the game...it wouldn't have been worth it by the time the game was finished. Now, though, we could go and so I made reservations! Part of the package price included a mother/son dance, a father/daughter dance, a family dance, a photo, and breakfast...oh and a room upgrade to one of the atrium rooms!
We left early afternoon to go to the hotel. We didn't tell the boys where we were going, just that it was a surprise! When we arrived the boys were super excited! It was really neat to see their expressions. The boys really liked all the water features and the big open spaces.
After checking in we went to check out our room and then off to the pool. We went to the outdoor pool, which was heated! We have such water bugs. Tapanga took a few drinks of water, but wasn't fazed one bit.
Thomas' stomach soon called and so after letting the kids swim for a little bit it was off to find food. I decided I wanted to eat at Rainforest Cafe (after all it was my weekend, my choice!). We walked over to the mall and looked around for a few before getting a table. We asked to sit near the animals and got to sit next to the gorillas.
I sometimes don't understand Tyler, at first he was really excited about sitting near the gorillas, but then he got frightened. By the end of the meal he was sitting under the table! Well, at least until dessert was served, he made an appearance for that!
Dinner was very good, but we needed to hurry if we were going to make our dance parties! Tanner loves to dance and he is really cute at it! He really gets down...literally he will fall down and spin around like break dancing, I have no idea where he got that. We only made it for part of the family dance, but for Thomas and I that was enough, the kids had a blast running around, playing with balloons, and dancing.
We danced the night away and on the way back to the room wandered around awhile. Thomas found the light fountain and we sat down and watched that till the end.
Sunday morning, I awake to Tanner fighting with Tyler (who is still sleeping). "He's hogging the bed, he won't scoot over!" Of course, I think that it was Tanner who was hogging the bed, but it was 5:41! How did I solve this...pick Tyler up, threw him in bed with daddy and I climbed in bed with Tanner. Problem solved, mommy gets more sleep!
Breakfast was less than desired, but I didn't expect it to be fabulous. Afterwards, we went to the Delta section of the hotel to find the boat. The boys knew there was a boat ride and had been talking about it. They even made the choice to not ride the train at the mall, because if they rode it they wouldn't get to ride the boat. We rode the first boat ride of the morning and really enjoyed the scenery of the hotel.
Our visit to the hotel was just about over, but it was time to go home. It was a nice way to start my mothers day off and the kids had a good time.
i'm jealous, my mother's day sucked this year! you have such a cute family! :) looks like a very fun time!
