Day 4, October 27, 2009, Castaway Cay
This morning we leisurely awoke and found ourselves witnessing the docking of the Disney Wonder at Castaway Cay, Disney's own private island. Today, we would get to go onto the island, play in the sand and surf and Thomas and KG would go para sailing. While eating breakfast we were able to see a good part of the island. The old ship that is docked at the island is from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean and we could see that also. After getting off the boat I stopped at the post office to mail post cards for the boys and then we were off...that was until Tyler saw his favorite character of the trip, Captain Hook. Just look how Tyler is looking at him!I didn't realize Donald was hanging off the back of the ship...well as long as his nephew doesn't cut him down!Tapanga was at the age where she wanted to visit with the characters, so when we saw Mickey having fun in the sand we had to stop and see him.And we also stopped to see Pluto. The boys really enjoyed playing in the sand and water, Tanner was excited to see find shells. While the guys were off para sailing the kids and I played in the sand. I attempted to bury them, but they didn't want to stay still long enough.
After Thomas and KG got back, we enjoyed our barbecue lunch provided by the cruise people and then we took the boys to play in the kids club for a little while. While the boys enjoyed time with friends Thomas and I took Tapanga and explored the island alittle. We took her to the fossil dig area and found a few pieces of the gigantic dinosaur.Tapanga wanted to dance around so she and I danced a little. When we got back on board, I took the boys to the Mickey pool. It was our first chance to play at this pool and since the boys were already dressed in the swim suits why not go? The pool wasn't very crowded so we had a nice time, before heading to the room to rest. The theme of the night was Pirate night. If you had pirate attire you could dress in it for dinner, to bad I didn't realize this because we wore regular clothes. The restaurant had a special pirate meal and after dinner was a huge pirate party on the deck followed by fireworks at sea!Our towel animal of the night was hanging around when we got back to our room. The kids were pretty tired so we cut out of the Pirate party and put the boys down for bed. They were bunking in Grammie and Grandpas room and the steward would pull down the Murphy bed at night for the boys and they took turns sleeping in the top bunk.
We really enjoyed the private island, our boat was the only one there, which made it nice, because you didn't feel all cramped and crowded. We were able to have a nice relaxing day on the beach. Thomas and KG enjoyed their para sailing experience, even if it was short. I am sorry we didn't get a picture of it, KG got someone on the boat to take some video of the experience. I don't know that Thomas would want to do it again, but he can say he has done it! We enjoyed the Pirate experience on board, we didn't visit characters tonight, but they got into the pirate fun as well and dressed in their best pirate attire! Tomorrow, we get to spend the whole day on board, I wonder what we will find to do?
