Safari - Wednesday

Last year when Thomas and I came to San Antonio, I saw the Wildlife Safari advertised at one of the hotels. I had always wanted to do one of the those drive through safaris and when looking for things to do this trip, I had brought the safari up as an option.

We left around lunch time and stopped at McDonalds, before heading to the safari.Part of the admission cost included getting a bag of food, we went ahead and bought another bag of food, but found out later we didn't need it.

On the first stretch of the road we came across many deer like animals.

It was really neat how they would stand right in the road and come right up to the cars.
There was a long stretch of road where we didn't see many animals and the ones we did see weren't interested in eating, but then we came across a long line of cars. There was a bunch of zebras surrounding the cars! It was taking forever to inch forward and I was really afraid that by the time we got to the front of the line they would be gone. But, no we were able to visit with the zebras.

Up to this point the kids had been in the back, but they wanted a better look and they wanted to feed the zebras so we brought them up front with us. Tapanga sat on Thomas' lap and the boys stayed with me. (This is something we don't allow normally!)
Tapanga even got to drive a little!
After visiting with the zebras we rounded the corner and ran into some donkeys. It seemed the donkeys wanted to lead the way, they were just trucken down the road and we followed (don't mind the dirty windshield). They finally moved over and we were able to pull up along side.
The donkey decided he wanted food also!
We also came across some ostrich, Ken really got to meet the ostrich!
The ostrich didn't care to much for us!The boys really enjoyed this experience and so did I!
We couldn't pass the petting area, so we all stopped and got out to go to the petting area!

What a great family activity. I was afraid that the animals would not cooperate, but we got to get up close and personal with them so that was great!
