Early Math Skills

This afternoon Tanner was playing with two dice and said, "Mommy what is one plus one plus two?"
I don't know where this came from, but me being a math teacher took the opportunity to use this as a teaching moment. Using my fingers, I show both index fingers and say how many.
Tanner counts, "one,two."
Ok, we are doing pretty good. Then I hold up, two fingers on each hand and say, "ok, now we have two plus two, how many do we have?"
Tanner, "one, two, one two."
Me laughing...he's right!
