The Rodeo

Friday, June 12
I had seen signs posted around town about the annual Kiwanis rodeo. Tanner loves horses and thought it would be fun to go to the rodeo. The gates opened at 6 and from 6 to 8 were kids activities, so I really wanted to be there around 6 so the kids could participate before the rodeo started.

When we walked in the first thing we saw was this pen of cows.
The boys said "Hi" to the rodeo queen. One of the activities for the kids was pony rides so all the kids got to ride the ponies. Tanner loved it so much he rode twice.

Tapanga is so happy, she doesn't know what to do...sit up in the saddle, pet the horse, look around...

Tapanga also LOVED the petting area and feeding the donkey...I love the expression on her face.
Thomas wasn't able to attend because of a softball game, here are the kids and I in front of the bull pen.

The kids got into the wagon to see what it would be like to steer the horses.

Tanner wanted to pet the big horses.

Another of the kid activities was a hay scramble. The had a tarp with a small pile of hay on it and in the hay were coins, all the kids 5 and under hunted through the pile of hay for coins. Tanner and Tyler both came up with a quarter!

Even though Thomas couldn't attend, Grammie and Grandpa and Grandma and Papa came along to our first rodeo experience!
I think Grandpa enjoyed shopping at the little shop and bought the "boys" some lasso to play with!

When the rodeo actually started the kids loved it! They were excited to see all the horses and fun!

Thanks Grandpa for the cowboy/cowgirl hats! We have some mighty cute cow folks!
